Payment transactions on the two large Jazz Open stages on the Schlossplatz and in the Old Castle have been cashless since 2022 in collaboration with premium partner Mastercard. Drinks, food, or merchandise items can only be paid for by card. This ensures quick processing at the checkouts, there is no more searching for change and thus prevents a large traffic jam at the checkout. It couldn't be easier - and if you pay with Mastercard you get an additional 20 percent discount.

Scharr and the Jazz Open: Shared Climate Responsibility

The energy trading company Friedrich Scharr KG has been taking shared climate responsibility for the Jazz Open since 2014. Extensive studies on energy consumption were carried out in advance, taking into account setup and teardown, the concerts themselves, as well as the audience’s travel to and from the venue. The energy consumption is offset through an international Scharr climate protection project in Darfur, Sudan, certified to the Gold Standard, the highest international level. As part of the project, 15,000 households receive liquefied gas stoves, replacing the life-threatening open fires used indoors and reducing CO₂ emissions by over four tons per stove per year.
