More than 75,000 Visitors Celebrate at Jazz Open Stuttgart 2026

22 July 2026

The 32nd edition of the Jazz Open came to a close on July 12 with a performance by American electropop star and former punk musician Moby on Stuttgart's Schlossplatz. Over the course of twelve days, internationally acclaimed artists including Nick Cave, Teddy Swims, Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, Diana Krall, Asaf Avidan, Stanley Clarke, Jamiroquai, Jamie Cullum, and Joss Stone set the rhythm for the city. Meanwhile, audiences enjoyed world-class jazz performances on the club stages at BIX Jazzclub and the SpardaWelt Event Center, featuring artists such as Joshua Redman, Marius Neset, Eliane Elias, Mammal Hands, and the Miles Electric Band.

Concerts on the festival's two main stages—Schlossplatz and the Old Castle (Altes Schloss)—were virtually sold out. More than 75,000 visitors attended the festival, resulting in an overall capacity rate of around 98 percent. The vibrant atmosphere extended well beyond the official festival grounds, as increasing numbers of spectators gathered outside the fenced-off Schlossplatz to enjoy the performances. This was especially evident during Katy Perry's concert, when the area surrounding the square turned into a lively open-air celebration.

"We are very pleased with the 32nd edition of the Jazz Open," said promoter Jürgen Schlensog.

Preparations for Jazz Open Stuttgart 2027, scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 11, are already well underway. As is tradition, the festival's headline acts are expected to be announced at the end of October.

How Lionel Richie celebrated Mica Millar’s debut album

14 April 2026

The current single by British soul and R&B singer Mica Millar, who will be performing at Jazz Open at BIX on July 8, is titled A Little Bit of Me. It is the title track of her new album, set for release on June 5. A great deal of care and dedication has gone into it. However, its creation was not as fateful as that of Millar’s debut album Heaven Knows (2022).

At the time, work on the album — which Millar produces independently for her own label — was interrupted by a serious accident. Millar recalls: “While writing and producing, I lost my voice, suffered from hearing problems, broke my back, narrowly avoided paralysis, cried, felt frustrated, laughed, was full of fear, but kept going nonetheless.”

In 2023, she performed as a support act for Lionel Richie at a festival at Blenheim Palace (the birthplace of Winston Churchill), where she proudly presented him with her album. You can see how the megastar celebrated receiving the “vinyl package” here.

The Hot Ride of Miles Davis

02 March 2026

Miles Davis would have turned 100 this year. During his lifetime, he was generous with gifts to himself. That became strikingly clear at the press conference for Jazz Open Modena, held at the Museo Enzo Ferrari as part of the exhibition “Greatest Hits - Music Legends and their Ferraris.”

Among the sports cars once owned by Maria Callas, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Madonna stood a stunning red 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB4. It belonged to Miles Davis.

His 100th birthday is, of course, being celebrated as well by his nephew Vince Wilburn Jr. The Grammy Award winner is touring with his Miles Electric Band (M.E.B.) for the centennial and will perform on July 7 at Jazz Open Stuttgart at the SpardaWelt Eventcenter.
