BIG BAND POWER
Founded in 1983 by Benno Marxer, the Big Band Liechtenstein has evolved from a student ensemble into an internationally acclaimed jazz orchestra. With numerous recordings and collaborations with renowned artists such as Peter Herbolzheimer and Bob Mintzer, the band has performed at events like the Montreux Jazz Festival and toured worldwide.
For over 25 years, they have maintained a close musical partnership with Australian multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, culminating in an Australia tour in 2025. Their joint performances are characterized by energy, virtuosity, and captivating stage presence, making every concert an unforgettable experience.
In Stuttgart, Morrison and the Big Band will perform at the Jazz Open Charity Night in support of the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF), a charity now also active across Germany from Stuttgart, dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families.

The bank
The former counter hall of the Sparda Bank branch at Stuttgart's main railway station was once transformed into a chic event location - and has since been a safe bank for top-class jazz concerts during the festival. Traditionally, the Jazz Open are opened here - with the awarding of the German Jazz Trophy. Under the motto "A Life for Jazz", deserving artists receive this award from the foundation Stiftung Kunst und Kultur der Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg.
