Kurt Rosenwinkel has been a defining voice in modern jazz for over three decades. The American multi-instrumentalist is internationally recognized for his masterful artistry and distinctive musical expression, evident in his 15 albums as a bandleader that have inspired musicians around the world. In 2008, his live album The Remedy, recorded at the legendary Village Vanguard in Greenwich Village, New York, attracted widespread international attention.

The bank
The former counter hall of the Sparda Bank branch at Stuttgart's main railway station was once transformed into a chic event location - and has since been a safe bank for top-class jazz concerts during the festival. Traditionally, the Jazz Open are opened here - with the awarding of the German Jazz Trophy. Under the motto "A Life for Jazz", deserving artists receive this award from the foundation Stiftung Kunst und Kultur der Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg.
