Lee Ritenour & The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra play bowie
LAID-BACK
U.S. jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour is known for his laid-back West Coast sound. Over the course of his long career, the Los Angeles native has released more than 40 solo albums, led numerous projects, and contributed his unmistakable guitar playing to the recordings of many famous colleagues. His performances with Dave Grusin are world-renowned, and he can be heard on The Wall by Pink Floyd, Aja by Steely Dan, and Guilty by Barbra Streisand.
At the Altes Schloss, he presents a truly special project: together with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, he performs songs by David Bowie — including pieces from the album Heroes and from Blackstar, the legacy album of the superstar who passed away in 2016.

Premiere at the Jazz Open: We are dedicating the concert Lee Ritenour & The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra play Bowie to the Bürgerstiftung Stuttgart. In 2026, the foundation will celebrate its 25th anniversary. It is part of the foundation’s tradition to address social issues, empower people in Stuttgart with sensitivity, and promote cohesion within the city’s community. You can also add your personal touch to this charitable work with a donation.
Altes Schloss
The magic
The Counts and Dukes of Württemberg once set the tone here. Today, the Jazz Open do the same every July. South German Renaissance and contemporary music merge into a highly emotional experience. Colours have never seemed so intoxicating as when the magnificent arcaded courtyard glows in the dark to the music.
