Since 2015, MEUTE - the Techno Marching Band from Hamburg - has been turning heads around the globe with their explosive blend of hypnotically driving techno and expressive brass music. What began as a small experiment on the streets of Hamburg, St. Pauli quickly developed into a worldwide celebrated phenomenon. In Europe, MEUTE has long been an integral part of the club and festival scene. Parov Stelar, a pioneer of electro-swing blessed with awards and numerous gold and platinum hits, ranks among the most internationally successful electronic musicians, with 500 million YouTube views and three million monthly listeners on Spotify. With over 1,000 live performances under his belt, he’s right at home at the world’s biggest festivals. And his shows always turn into full-blown dance parties. But because dance events are taxed at a higher rate than concerts in Austria, Parov Stelar once had to pay about 10,000 euros in back taxes after a performance in Vienna. The Austrian artist’s fans can’t be bothered with such bureaucratic quibbles. They party like there’s no tomorrow – and have done so four times already at the Jazz Open. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the euphoric affection is mutual. “If Stuttgart were a woman, I’d marry her,” says Parov Stelar.
