Philine Sonny
EMOTION AND NEW BEGINNINGS
Philine Sonny is a German-born alt/indie singer, songwriter, and producer whose music transforms raw emotion into expansive, magnetic pop. After introducing herself with her self-produced EPs Lose Yourself (2022) and Invader (2024), Philine arrives with her debut album Virgin Lake (out April 3, 2026 via Nettwerk). Partially inspired by Benedict Wells’ novel Hard Land, the record is a cathartic coming-of-age journey through estrangement, grief, and renewal. Across songs like the urgent opener “The Band,” the defiant single “Gatekeeper,” and the reflective closer “Made For You,” Philine charts a path from anger and sorrow toward compassion and self-understanding. Expanding her intimate songwriting with contributions from close friends on drums, guitars, and strings, Virgin Lake blends soaring vocals, driving rhythms, and deeply confessional lyricism. The result is a striking debut that captures the turbulence of growing up while shining a light toward healing and hope.
