FROM FOLK TO RAP
Raised in a quiet New York suburb, Sorvina started out as a folk songwriter until she admitted to herself that what she really wanted was to rap. A performance with the choir A Song For You at Berlin’s Volksbühne in 2022 became her turning point. Now Berlin-based, she blends hip-hop with jazz, neo-soul and gospel, telling stories of faith, queer love and belonging with plenty of wit. In 2024 she won the Listen to Berlin Award, and her debut EP Oh, The Places You’ll Go followed in 2025. At the Jazz Open, Sorvina performs at the BIX Jazzclub.
