Marius Neset is an internationally acclaimed saxophonist and composer who began experimenting with rhythm and polyrhythms at an early age. After his breakthrough with the album Golden Xplosion, he has composed numerous commissioned works for orchestras, big bands, and chamber ensembles, including Lion, Arches of Nature / Snowmelt, Viaduct, and Geyser. Neset has received multiple awards, including EDVARD and Spellemann prizes, and in 2016 was the only European named to DownBeat’s “25 for the Future.” Alongside his compositional work, he tours worldwide as both a bandleader and sideman, most recently with his newly formed quintet on the album Happy. His music attracts musicians from a wide range of genres and demonstrates exceptional breadth, energy, and creativity.
